Biography

Yosiya Kinuka was born in Uganda in 1905. As a young man he received treatment at Kabale Hospital, where he learned to read and write. His abilities led to work as a medical assistant and further training at Mengo Hospital.[1]

He married Dorokasi in 1928, and their household became an important part of their Christian witness. At Gahini Hospital in Rwanda he worked with Joe Church. Translating and explaining Bible teaching helped bring him toward a personal Christian commitment.[1]

Kinuka became a leader in the East African Revival and shared in evangelistic teams and conventions. In 1946 he toured England with William Nagenda and Joe Church, communicating the testimony of African Christians to a wider audience.[1]

When political tensions increased in Rwanda from 1959, Yosiya and Dorokasi moved to Uganda to help supervise a camp for Rwandan refugees. Their work joined Christian testimony with practical care during displacement.[1]

Kinuka died in 1981. The record of his life is a record of partnership: medical coworkers, revival teams, and Dorokasi's service alongside his own. Their contribution should be remembered together rather than reduced to the public speaking of one man.[1]
