Essential sign-in cookies
Secure, HttpOnly session cookies keep your account signed in and allow the server to check your permissions. They are separate from optional readership measurement. Signing out clears the local sign-in cookies; session controls are available in account settings.
Reading preferences and downloads
This browser stores choices such as appearance, language and reading preferences. Public readings you choose to keep offline are stored on this device. The app also caches a bounded set of public pages and release assets for faster repeat visits. Administration pages and member API responses are excluded from the public service-worker cache.
Private revisit cache
After the server confirms your current account, some library responses may be kept briefly in this tab’s session storage to make return visits faster. Entries are scoped to that account and are rechecked in the background. Signing out clears this cache. This storage is not a substitute for server authorization.
Optional readership measurement
Optional readership measurement starts only after you choose to allow it. It respects browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals and excludes private account and administration pages. You can change the choice using Readership privacy in the footer. Declining does not prevent you from reading the public library.
Your device controls
You can remove offline readings in Offline library and manage site storage through your browser. Clearing site data may remove downloads, local preferences and sign-in state. Push notifications require separate browser permission and can be disabled in browser or device settings.
