Biography
Steve Hill was born in Ankara, Turkey, in 1954 to a military family and later grew up in Alabama. His family's account describes drug addiction and a Christian conversion that changed the direction of his life. The conversion and healing experience belong to his reported testimony.[1]
He became an evangelist especially associated with the Brownsville Revival, the meetings that began at Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola, Florida, in 1995. His preaching emphasised repentance and commitment to Christ.[2]
Accounts of the meetings describe large attendance and experiences of spiritual renewal. Attendance totals and claims of healing should remain attributed to the organisations or reports that record them; they are not a substitute for independently documented individual histories.[2]
Hill married Jeri, and the couple had three children. His family obituary remembers both public preaching and personal conversations with people outside the meetings.[1]
He died at his Alabama home on 9 March 2014 after cancer. His legacy includes recorded preaching and a significant role in a widely discussed period of Pentecostal revival.[1] [2]
